Vercel added a high-contrast display serif, Geist Serif, to its Geist type family on October 30. It is made for large sizes such as headlines and posters, and its cap height (710) and x-height (530) match Geist Sans, so it can replace Sans in a Geist layout without shifting lines, according to Vercel. The glyph count grew from 227 in July to 894, covering 352 Latin-script languages, and a new axis (ELSH) turns the dots on i, j and punctuation into round, square, triangle or heart shapes. Only Regular ships now; a variable font from Thin to Black, a text version and an italic are planned. You can install it with npm i geist or download it from vercel.com/font, and Google Fonts comes after launch. The post does not state license terms.
